It is said that eat what you want and crave what you need! Well, with the chaotic lives, jam-packed diets, chaos of everyday chores and rules of health and wellness– we often forget to take care of our needs and cravings and end up living in the world of rules. From counting calories, traces of sugar, trapped inside the choice of organic or inorganic, a lot of us always try to stay on the roadmap and completely forget about eating what our heart wants. This Independence day, say bye-bye to rules and free yourself from those harsh and challenging food rulebooks. Food freedom even for a day can motivate and cheer you up for more balanced and healthy eating. Just make peace with food and enjoy something that you would really want to! Here is how you can eat your way to freedom:
- Freedom to choose Local: locally grown and seasonal food is offered countless benefits and people can easily stick to such food items for a longer period of time. It is often free from preservatives and chemicals and goes a long way with you. Choosing local and seasonal food is the best way to get freedom from all those food rules along with promoting optimal health and wellness.
- Freedom to choose Healthily: a lot of you might relate food freedom with eating junkies, processed and sugar-rich foods as this is what people usually crave! But going healthily in this lane is the best way to free yourself from the food rules while keeping yourself fit and fine. Obviously, there are no definite dos of this process as you are trying to bid adieu to the rules but make sure that you keep a food diary without any rules or judgements and keep a track of your mood, energy levels, digestion and other body symptoms in order to go healthily.
- Freedom to experiment with your meals: While going through food freedom make sure that you keep experimenting with your meals to know how your body responds to the choices of food you are consuming. Always pay heed to your body symptoms after you consume a meal.
- Freedom to treat yourself: Treating yourself occasionally is a great way to motivate and inspire yourself. Sit back and notice your feelings towards your diet change and pay heed to the surprises. If you are feeling fantastic by choosing food freedom then there is nothing to worry about but if you are constantly feeling low energy or in a bad mood then do consult a doctor or try tweaking your diet.
- Freedom to pay heed to your cravings: Cravings tell a lot about your inner body. Make sure that you keep an eye on your cravings and learn what they are telling you. Also, try to choose healthy alternatives to keep your health fit and fine. Interpreting food cravings mindfully is the best way to decrease the risks of health concerns.
