Try these Healthy Snacking Alternatives to Manage Weight

Snack time is the most favourite part of the day for most individuals. But, if you don’t choose wisely from among the available options, you might end up jeopardizing all your efforts to keep up with the weight loss target and overall well-being.

So, if you are opting for more whole-food, nutrient-dense options, then snacks can be an integral part of weight loss. In fact, it can make you feel fuller for a longer period of time and curtail down your cravings for unhealthy food. Below are the few options to choose from:

  • Mixed nuts:

They make the most ideal option when it comes to snacking. Having a handful of mixed nuts and seeds every day can reduce the risk of heart diseases, cancer, and depression. Not only does the healthy fat make you feel full but also help in weight loss, if consumed in moderation. You can also mix your favourite nuts with spices and store them in an airtight container to munch on later.

  • Vegetable slices with homemade hummus:

Vegetables like carrot, cucumber, celery and tomato along with hummus can be another go-to snack option. Hummus, made out of chickpeas, olive oil, garlic- has anti-inflammatory properties and also, balances the blood sugar levels with the advantages of the nutrients present in vegetables

  • Hard-boiled eggs:

Eggs are an excellent source of protein, vitamin K2 and B12. They keep you feel fuller for a longer period of time and reduce the yearning to eat more calories. All you need to do is, boil two eggs and sprinkle your favourite spices over it and it is ready to consume.

  • Chia seed pudding:

Chia seed pudding is another phenomenal option you can think of, especially if you are craving something sweet, vibrant and flavorful. Chia seeds hold up to 10 times their weight in water, keeping you full. You can make them in coconut, hazelnut or almond milk and add honey for sweetness. Keep it in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours and top it up with your favourite fruits

  • Baked sweet potatoes:

This one for the love of fries but with a healthy twist. Sweet potatoes are rich in dietary fibre, antioxidants and water. Just pop them in the oven, tossing once halfway through and sprinkle some herbs and hearty spices. Baked sweet potatoes are also low in calories, hence make an amazing mid-day snack.

  • Smoothies:

Smoothies make the perfect pick-me-up and are loaded with nutrients. Choose from among your favourite ingredients, pulse them together and sip! Add chopped nuts or seeds over it to enhance the nutritional profile.

Footnote

If you make a mindful choice for snacks, weight loss ain’t any rocket science. In fact, they can add some essential nutrients in your diet while also fuelling up your energy. Include the above options and keep up with your weight loss targets.
