Almond Kahwa

Almond Kahwa is a warm, aromatic infusion of green tea, saffron, spices, and blanched almonds, creating a delicately spiced and nutty beverage. This traditional drink from Kashmir is known for its rich flavors and is often enjoyed during colder months.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml water
  • 10 almonds (blanched and slivered)
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon saffron strands
  • 1 teaspoon dried rose petals
  • 1 teaspoon green tea leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds for garnish

Procedure:

  • In a saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add crushed cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and saffron strands. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  • Turn off the heat and add green tea leaves to the spiced water. Let it steep for 2 minutes.
  • Strain the kahwa into serving cups.
  • Add blanched and slivered almonds to the cups. Garnish with extra chopped almonds and rose petals and serve hot.
