Besan Nariyal Burfi

Besan Nariyal Burfi is a traditional Indian sweet made with roasted gram flour (besan), fresh coconut, and jaggery. It’s a quick and easy dessert, perfect for festive occasions or whenever you crave something sweet and wholesome.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

  • 60 grams besan
  • 40 grams grated coconut
  •  2 teaspoons ghee
  • 20 grams jaggery
  • 30 ml water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 5-6 almonds or pistachios

Method:

  • Heat ghee in a pan on low flame. Add besan and roast it for 8-10 minutes until it turns golden and aromatic. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
  • Add the grated coconut to the roasted besan and mix well. Roast for another 2-3 minutes.
  • In a separate pan, dissolve jaggery in 30 ml water and simmer until it forms a thick syrup (soft ball consistency). Remove from heat.
  • Add the jaggery syrup to the besan-coconut mixture. Mix well until everything is well incorporated.
  • Spread the mixture evenly on a greased plate or tray. Flatten it and sprinkle cardamom powder and chopped almonds or pistachios on top.
  • Let the mixture cool for 30 minutes. Once set, cut it into small square or diamond-shaped pieces.
