Caramelized Shallot Hummus

Caramelized Shallot Hummus is a flavorful twist on traditional hummus, featuring the rich, sweet taste of caramelized shallots blended into a creamy chickpea base. This unique hummus is perfect as a dip or spread and brings an exquisite depth of flavor to your appetizer table.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 80 grams cooked chickpeas
- 40 grams finely sliced shallots
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon water (adjust for consistency)
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
Procedure:
- In a small pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and cook until they become soft and golden brown, stirring occasionally (about 10-15 minutes). Remove from heat and allow them to cool slightly.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, caramelized shallots, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt.
- Add water gradually while blending until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You can add more water if needed to achieve your desired consistency.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with smoked paprika, and serve with fresh vegetables, pita bread, or crackers.
