Channa Dal Ladoo is a delicious and nutritious Indian sweet made from roasted split chickpeas, jaggery, and coconut. These sweet treats are not only satisfying but also packed with protein and fiber, making them a wholesome option for those looking for a healthier dessert. They are perfect for festive occasions or as an energy-boosting snack.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 60 grams channa dal
- 1 tablespoon jaggery
- 2 teaspoons ghee
- 2 teaspoons grated coconut
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of salt
- 10 grams chopped nuts
Procedure:
- In a pan, dry roast the channa dal on low heat until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Be careful not to burn it. Once roasted, let it cool.
- After cooling, transfer the roasted channa dal to a blender or food processor. Grind it into a fine powder.
- In the same pan, add ghee and heat it gently. Add the ground channa dal, grated jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and cook on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously until the jaggery melts and the mixture comes together.
- Once the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan, remove it from heat. Stir in the chopped nuts for added texture.
- Let the mixture cool slightly until it is warm but manageable. Grease your palms with a little ghee and take small portions of the mixture to shape into round ladoos.
- Allow the ladoos to cool completely before serving. Enjoy them as a nutritious snack or dessert.
