Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken Tikka Masala is a rich and flavorful Indian dish where marinated and grilled chicken is cooked in a spiced tomato-based sauce, finished with a touch of cream. The smoky, tender chicken combined with the creamy, fragrant sauce makes this dish a popular favorite around the world.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 250 grams boneless chicken, cut into cubes
  • 100 grams plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste

  • 2 teaspoons oil or ghee
  • 100 grams finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic

  • 200 grams pureed tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 100 ml coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and spices for the marinade. Add the chicken cubes and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for better flavor.
  2. Grill or pan-fry the marinated chicken on medium heat until cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In a pan, heat oil or ghee. Sauté the onions until golden brown, then add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in the oconut milk and simmer for 2 minutes. Add the cooked chicken pieces and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend. Add water to adjust the conssitency.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
