Walnut Parfait

The Walnut Parfait is a nutritious and delicious layered dessert or breakfast option. Featuring creamy Greek yogurt, crisp apples with a hint of cinnamon, and fresh berries, it combines a variety of textures and flavors. Toasted walnuts add a satisfying crunch and richness, while chia seeds provide an extra boost of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. This parfait can be enjoyed immediately or chilled to enhance the flavor and texture.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 100 grams plain Greek yogurt
- 30 grams chopped walnuts
- 1 small diced apple
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 50 grams berries (such as strawberries or blueberries)
Procedure:
- Toast the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and slightly golden. Allow to cool.
- In a bowl, combine the diced apple with ground cinnamon.
- In serving glasses or bowls, layer the yogurt, diced apple mixture, and berries.
- Sprinkle a layer of chopped walnuts and chia seeds on top of each serving.
- Start with a layer of yogurt, followed by a layer of the apple-cinnamon mixture.
- Add a layer of berries and then sprinkle with chopped walnuts and chia seeds.
- Repeat the layers if using tall glasses or bowls. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chia seeds to absorb some moisture.
