Fauxtato Chips

Fauxtato Chips are a crunchy, healthier alternative to traditional potato chips, made using thinly sliced radishes. Seasoned with paprika, garlic powder, and a hint of chili powder, these chips offer a satisfying crunch with a burst of flavor, making them a great snack for those looking for a low-carb, nutritious option.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium radishes (approximately 200 grams), thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder 

Procedure:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil.
  2. Wash and peel the radishes. Slice them as thinly as possible using a mandoline or a sharp knife to ensure they crisp up nicely.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the radish slices with olive oil to coat evenly.
  4. Add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Toss well to ensure all slices are coated with the seasoning.
  5. Arrange the radish slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are not overlapping to ensure they bake evenly and become crispy.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through, until they are crisp and golden brown. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning.
  7. Remove the radish chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  8. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
