Hibiscus Sharbat is a vibrant and refreshing drink, known for its striking red color and tangy flavor. This sharbat, made from dried hibiscus flowers, is infused with the zesty taste of lemon juice and the warmth of grated ginger. Served chilled, it’s a perfect beverage to cool down on a hot day, offering a delightful balance of tartness and spice with a hint of mint for added freshness.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 30 grams dried hibiscus flowers
- 1-liter water
- 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- Fresh mint leaves
Procedure:
- In a large pot, bring 1-liter water to a boil.
- Add the dried hibiscus flowers and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the water turns a deep red color. Remove from heat and strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the hibiscus flowers.
- Allow the hibiscus liquid to cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, add lemon juice to taste. Adjust the amount of lemon juice based on your preference for tartness. Optionally, add grated ginger for a hint of spice.
- Refrigerate the sharbat until cold.
