Hummus Beiruti is a creamy, flavorful variation of traditional hummus, distinguished by its use of tahini and fresh ingredients. This Lebanese-inspired dip is not only delicious but also versatile, perfect as a snack or appetizer. The addition of red bell pepper and parsley adds a fresh, vibrant touch, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 200 grams cooked chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small minced garlic clove
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons water
- 30 grams diced red bell pepper
- 30 grams chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Procedure:
- In a food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- If the hummus is too thick, gradually add water while blending until you achieve your desired consistency.
- Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if necessary.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Garnish with diced red bell pepper, chopped parsley, and a sprinkle of paprika for color. Drizzle a little olive oil on top if desired.
- Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetable sticks, or as a spread on sandwiches.
