Oats Flaxseed Roti

Oats Flaxseed Roti is a nutritious twist on traditional Indian flatbreads, packed with fiber and healthy fats. This versatile roti is easy to prepare and can be enjoyed with various side dishes, making it a perfect addition to any meal. Ingredients:

For the Roti:

  • 60 grams rolled oats (ground into flour)
  • 10 grams ground flaxseeds
  • 40 grams whole wheat flour
  • Warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoons oil

Procedure:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground oats, ground flaxseeds, whole wheat flour, and salt. Mix well. Gradually add warm water to form a soft dough. If desired, add oil for added moisture and richness. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • After resting, divide the dough into equal portions (approximately 4 balls for two servings).
  • Dust a clean surface with some whole wheat flour. Take one ball of dough and flatten it slightly. Using a rolling pin, roll it out into a thin circle (about 6-7 inches in diameter), dusting with flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  • Heat a tava or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolled roti on the tava. Cook for 30-40 seconds until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook for another 30 seconds. Optionally, brush with ghee or oil while cooking.
  • Repeat the rolling and cooking process for the remaining dough balls.
  • Serve the oats flaxseed rotis warm with your favorite vegetable curry, yogurt, or chutney.
