For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
For the Roti:
- 60 grams rolled oats (ground into flour)
- 10 grams ground flaxseeds
- 40 grams whole wheat flour
- Warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoons oil
Procedure:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground oats, ground flaxseeds, whole wheat flour, and salt. Mix well. Gradually add warm water to form a soft dough. If desired, add oil for added moisture and richness. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into equal portions (approximately 4 balls for two servings).
- Dust a clean surface with some whole wheat flour. Take one ball of dough and flatten it slightly. Using a rolling pin, roll it out into a thin circle (about 6-7 inches in diameter), dusting with flour as needed to prevent sticking.
- Heat a tava or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the rolled roti on the tava. Cook for 30-40 seconds until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook for another 30 seconds. Optionally, brush with ghee or oil while cooking.
- Repeat the rolling and cooking process for the remaining dough balls.
- Serve the oats flaxseed rotis warm with your favorite vegetable curry, yogurt, or chutney.
