Sesame Flatbread
By Nmami Agarwal 30-Sep 2021 Reading Time: 3 Mins
Sesame Flatbread is a simple yet flavorful bread made with whole wheat flour and toasted sesame seeds. The flatbread has a soft, pliable texture and a subtle nutty flavor from the sesame seeds. It is quickly cooked in a skillet, making it a convenient and versatile option for pairing with dips, or using as a base for wraps and sandwiches.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 60 grams whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 40-50 ml warm water
Procedure:
- In a bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, sesame seeds, salt, and baking powder
- Add the olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add warm water to the mixture, a little at a time, until a smooth and pliable dough forms. You may not need all the water, so add it slowly.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 2-3 minutes until it is soft and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 2 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 1/8-inch thick.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown spots appear and the flatbread is cooked through. Repeat with the second flatbread.
- Allow the flatbreads to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy as a side with dips, or as a base for wraps and sandwiches.
