These Sesame Jaggery Laddoos are a traditional Indian treat combining the natural sweetness of jaggery with the nutty flavor of sesame seeds. Easy to prepare, these laddoos are perfect for a quick dessert or a healthy, energy-boosting snack that can be enjoyed guilt-free.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 60 grams sesame seeds (white or black)
- 40 grams jaggery, grated or chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon ghee
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
Procedure:
- Heat a pan over medium flame and add sesame seeds. Dry roast them for about 4-5 minutes, stirring continuously until they turn golden and aromatic. Remove from heat and let them cool slightly.
- In the same pan, add ghee and grated jaggery. Stir continuously on low heat until the jaggery melts completely, forming a smooth syrup. Turn off the heat once the syrup reaches a thick consistency.
- Add the roasted sesame seeds and cardamom powder to the melted jaggery. Mix thoroughly to coat the sesame seeds evenly with the jaggery syrup.
- Allow the mixture to cool for a minute, but not too much as it will harden. Grease your palms with a bit of ghee, then take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round balls (laddoos).
- Let the laddoos cool completely. Store them in an airtight container and enjoy as a nutritious snack.
