Soybean Chaat

This Soyabean Chaat is a flavorful and nutritious snack that combines tender soybeans with vibrant spices and fresh vegetables. The soybeans are cooked until tender and then sautéed with cumin and mustard seeds, turmeric, chaat masala, and red chili powder to create a spiced base, topped with veggies. Finished with a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds, this chaat is both visually appealing and packed with taste.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 60 grams soybean beans
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 50 grams chopped tomatoes
- 50 grams chopped onions
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon pomegranate seeds
Procedure:
- Soak the soybean beans overnight in plenty of water. Drain and rinse the next day.
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the soaked soybeans. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Sauté until they start to crackle.
- Add turmeric powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Add the cooked soybeans to the pan and mix well, letting them cook with the spices for about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in chopped tomatoes and onions. Cook for another 2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
- Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.
- Garnish with pomegranate seeds if desired and serve warm.
