Soybean Idli

Enjoy a nutritious twist on traditional idli with this protein-packed version, combining soybeans, urad dal, rice, and fenugreek seeds. After soaking and grinding the ingredients into a smooth batter, allow it to ferment overnight for a light and fluffy texture. Steam the batter into soft, spongy idlis, and serve hot with a side of sambar and coconut chutney. This wholesome and delicious dish makes for a perfect breakfast or snack, offering a balanced blend of flavors and nutrients.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 80 grams soybean
- 120 grams white urad dal
- 1 teaspoons Fenugreek Seeds
- 200 grams rice
- 2 teaspoons Chana Dal
- Salt as per taste
Procedure:
- Firstly, soak dal, rice and soybean separately in bowls.
- Add methi seeds and chana dal together in the bowl of urad dal.
- Soak the rice for at least 5-6 hours.
- Once soaked, grind all the ingredients together into a thick and consistent paste.
- Add a little bit of water and grind again.
- Add the salt and stir well to combine. Cover the bowl and ferment the Batter for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- Once fermented, mix again. Steam in an idli steamer and serve hot with sambar and nariyal ki chutney alongside.
