Spicy Baked Apples are a warming, lightly spiced dessert that combines the natural sweetness of apples with an unexpected hint of chili, balanced by aromatic cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. This cozy, flavorful dish offers a delightful mix of textures and is perfect for a healthy treat with a bit of a twist.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples, cored and sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon raisins
- 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Procedure:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a baking dish with coconut oil.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and chili powder.
- Place the sliced apples in a mixing bowl, sprinkle the spice mix over them, and toss to coat evenly. Add in the raisins and walnuts, mixing them with the apples.
- Spread the apples evenly in the greased baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the apples are tender and golden, stirring halfway through for even baking.
- Enjoy warm as a dessert or snack on its own, or pair it with a dollop of Greek yogurt for added creaminess.
