Baked potato vada

Baked potato vada is an ultimate appetizer to make for house parties or tea time snack for the monsoon. The best part is that these rolls are baked and not deep fried which makes them healthy and delicious as well. These baked potato rolls are filled with spiced yummy potatoes and lot of various vegetables which can be experimented using vegetables of your choice.

Nutritional Benefits
These crunchy and moist potato rolls are packed with benefits of veggies which provide dietary fibre. This gives satiety and is bulky enough to keep you away from untimely hunger pangs. Also, potato is a low protein vegetable which can be well tolerated by kidney patients too. Using baking as a cooking method instead of deep frying, the extra calories are cut and make it a more nutritious option.

Ingredients

  • 1 boiled and mashed potato
  • 20 grams onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chillies, finely chopped
  • ¼ green capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil for greasing the baking sheet and breads
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
  • Red chilli powder, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  • Pre heat the oven to 200 C and grease a baking sheet with Ghee.
  • Combine the mashed potatoes, bell peppers, onions, green chillies, cumin powder and salt.
  • Mix and stir to combine all the ingredients well.
  • Now make balls with out of mashed potato mixture. With the help of the blunt knife make a hole in the centre to form vadas.
  • Repeat the same process with the remaining balls to make the vadas
  • To get crusty top, apply oil and place it on the greased baking sheet.
  • Repeat with the remaining vadas and place them on a greased baking sheet. Put the vadas in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until the crust turns golden brown in colour.
  • Serve immediately!
