Tangy Chicken Piccata

Tangy Chicken Pinata is a delightful snack featuring juicy, spiced chicken wrapped in a crispy outer shell. The zesty lemon and flavorful spices give the chicken filling a bold, tangy taste, making each bite irresistible.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- For the Chicken Filling:
- 250 grams boneless chicken breast, diced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp lime or lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
For the Dough (optional, or use store-bought puff pastry):
- 150 grams whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 50 ml water (adjust for consistency)
Procedure:
- Make the Dough (if preparing from scratch): In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and olive oil. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Prepare the Chicken Filling: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and garlic, sauté until golden brown. Add the diced chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Stir in cumin, paprika, chili powder, and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Add lime or lemon juice and stir well. Set aside to cool.
- Assemble the Piñata: If using homemade dough, roll it out into thin circles (around 10 cm diameter). Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork. If using puff pastry, cut it into squares, fill, fold, and seal similarly.
- Bake or Fry: Brush with olive oil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Alternatively, shallow fry until crispy and golden.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with a tangy dipping sauce or chutney.
