The daily covid-19 cases in India have slowed down and come within the range of 30,000 to 40,000 for the past few days. This sturdy decline in the cases across the country completely managed and slowed down the second wave. The Union Health Ministry bulletin said “over 41,000 cases were reported across the country in the past 24 hours. This is worrisome keeping in mind the very real threat of a third wave, especially as countries all over the world are now witnessing an increase in cases as well.” The coming 3-4 months are quite critical as India’s population is quite high and if people do not pay heed towards the safety protocols, the third wave can hit.
India has a great recovery rate of over 97%, but people are involving themselves in travelling and have been heading to various hill stations that are breaching the COVID-19 prevention protocols and if this continues, it can further become a cause for concern. Such behaviour enhances the chances of a third wave. The government is worried over this and is continuously warning people to follow all the safety norms like wearing masks in public and maintaining social distance whenever and wherever they are going. Taking safety steps even after getting the vaccination shots is extremely important to prevent the third wave of covid-19.
As per the reports, “the government of Haryana has extended its covid-19 lockdown by a week, it will now stay in effect till 5 am on July 26.” More relaxations will be introduced to ease out the daily activities. More states like West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Punjab have also extended the lockdown with some restriction ease.
India’s vaccination drive which began on 16th January 2021 has gone through some thick and thin but now it is progressing at a great pace. A total of about 41.2 crore people have been vaccinated so far. PM Modi recently held a meeting to assess the progress on the vaccination drive across the country and viewing the development he expressed his satisfaction with the process and pace of the vaccination drive. He said that India’s Covid vaccination drive “keeps gaining” momentum, and the government motto will remain “vaccines for all, free for all.”
