The number of people who are turning vegan is growing gradually. In India, the two terms- vegan and vegetarianism are often considered similar but there is a big difference between the two. Being a vegan is like following a religion, it is more than just being a traditional vegetarian. By following the path of vegan, people give-up on eating anything that came from animals, not just meat but they give-up on dairy products as well. Veganism is relatively not that common in India; however, vegetarianism is quite popular here, as it is quite convenient to follow.
Here are few actors who follow a vegan diet and feel it brought change in their lifestyle:

Found to be one of the most loyal animal lovers, Sonakshi likes to speak out for those innocent creatures. Because of her immense love towards animals, Sonakshi decided to go vegan, which in return gave her a slim body and many other health benefits.

PETA titled Alia as the hottest Bollywood vegan celebrity in 2017. The first time she decided to ditch meat was because of the extensive summer heat. But later she just found out that it more peaceful to live a vegan life.
- Kangana Ranaut
Kangana was once a hardcore non-vegetarian but now has been following a vegan diet for many years. For the unversed, she first turned vegetarian and then vegan. She also had said that veganism as a way of life is deeply rooted in the Indian ethos. For her, vegan foods give her both physical and emotional strength.
- Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor was fond of non-vegetarian food especially seafood because she is a true Punjabi. However, she became more fitness conscious and later turned to vegetarianism and then to vegan diet as dairy products do not suit her.
- Richa Chadha
The famous actress, Richa Chadha is also a vegetarian-turned-vegan. Yes, she does not eat eggs and dairy as well. She has been following veganism since 2014. In another interview, she had said I highly recommend a shift to the vegan diet. Do good, be good and look good. Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the fittest actresses and she keeps promoting eating clean food, organic and wholesome food. Her love for organic food and animals made her follow veganism. In one of the interviews, she said,” “Going vegan is the best thing you can do to help stop animal suffering, protect the environment and safeguard your own health.”

- Whole foods like whole grains, fruits, beans, vegetables, peas, nuts and seeds in vegan diet helps lose body weight faster. Vegan diets have natural tendency to reduce your calorie intake.
- Vegan diet is lighter on stomach. Eliminating meat and animal products is good as they are heavier foods which require ample time to get digested.
- Vegan diets are higher in certain beneficial nutrients. It has more fibre, antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds which appear to be rich in potassium, magnesium and folate.
- Vegan diets which include probiotic rich whole foods help in improving osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It shows improvement in joint pain and swelling.
