We all enjoy snacking and munching on our favorite foods during the day. Most people believe that snacking is unhealthy for the body and can obstruct their dieting or weight loss patterns. This statement isn’t entirely true. Snacking is important. Three meals a day cannot satisfy your food requirements. You need to eat during regular intervals so that the body gets sufficient energy for its effective functioning.

Now that we understand that snacking is necessary, we also need to understand what kind of food should you be eating during your snacking intervals. A big packet of potato chips or a plate of fries isn’t an ideal snack. These foods have no nutritional value and do not qualify as healthy snacks. When you are trying to lose weight and improving your digestion, you need to make sure that your fiber intake is appropriate. Fiber is responsible for improving bowel movement and digestion.

Here are some fiber-rich snacks that you can eat during the day to satiate your hunger. These snacks are healthy, low in calorie and a great way to speed up your weight loss process.

  • Roasted black chana: Roasted chickpea or chana is a great snack for weight loss. Black chana is low in calories and full of fiber. It has several nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and protein. It is easily available. These are very tasty and you can munch on it during the day.
  • Oatmeal: Oats are very healthy whole grains. They fulfilling and contain very low traces of calories. They are rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Eating oatmeal can lower your blood pressure, improve weight loss, and clean the body from bad cholesterol. You can eat a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast or as an evening snack.
  • Chia seeds and flaxseeds: Seeds are a very popular snack. Chia and flaxseeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are known to enhance brain function. You can easily include seeds in your diet by tossing them in smoothies and yogurt. You can also sprinkle them over salads or cereals. Chia pudding is a delicious and healthy mid-day snack. You can even eat the seeds raw or roast them.
  • Berries: Fruits have always been healthy food alternatives to satisfy your taste buds and food requirements. Berries are tasty as well as nutritious. They are excellent antioxidants and an appropriate high fiber-rich snack. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are known to improve blood sugar levels. Toss some berries in your smoothies or a cup of yogurt.
  • Avocados: It rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium, and magnesium. Avocados improve cholesterol levels in the body and offer other health benefits too. Avocados are loaded with fiber and it is also effective in weight loss. You can combine avocados with an egg salad or make avocado toasts.
