Caramelized Onion Garlic Dip

This Caramelized Onion Garlic Dip is a rich and flavorful blend of sweet caramelized onions and roasted garlic, combined with creamy yogurt and cheese. Its luscious texture and deep flavors make it a perfect accompaniment for snacking or entertaining. Enjoy it with fresh veggies, chips, or as a spread on your favorite bread.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 150 grams thinly sliced onions
- 1 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 100 grams Greek yogurt
- 50 grams cream cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Fresh herbs (like parsley) for garnish
Procedure:
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Add the minced garlic in the last 2 minutes of cooking and stir well. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the caramelized onion and garlic mixture with Greek yogurt, cream cheese (if using), lemon juice, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined and creamy.
- Taste the dip and adjust seasoning if necessary. You can add more lemon juice for tanginess or more salt to enhance the flavor.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve with vegetable sticks, whole-grain crackers, or as a spread on sandwiches.
